Quick Calc has been added to our calculation function on the Excel menu add-in to provide users with a quick way to add simple calculations.
The Quick Calc function provides users with the most commonly used operators so as to provide a quick way to add simple calculations such as average amounts. The Quick Calc window allows users to select the measures and operators to generate a calculated measure. The full MDX editor is still available.
The additional editor also features logic to distinguish simple calculations so that they can be edited in this window or the full MDX editor, while other more complex MDX functions will not be available in the Quick Calc window. The calculated measure functionality is not available in Excel or Excel Services out of the box from Microsoft, this was added by Insight to address the need users have to add calculations as part of the pivot rather than to the side in the spreadsheet. This allows them to operate within the pivot table or pivot chart with full slice and dice functionality and be part of the report published to the web. 
The Insight Menu Bar provides features that are not directly available as part of Excel and combines them with commonly used BI functionality so as to improve productivity. |
