Insight participated in the LOMA ACORD Systems Forum in Las Vegas between 22 - 24 May 2006. In the opening general session the President of LOMA, Thomas P. Donaldson, emphasized lifelong learning as the key to remaining competitive in the global economy. To assure that education remains "continuous" across an individual's career, LOMA offers both introductory as well as advanced training.
This was followed by ACORD’s president, Gregory A. Maciag, who explained a major communications initiative launched by ACORD this year – ACORD TV, this uses video to get the message out about the importance of standards. "We’ll include video clips that you can use with your boss, your peers and your staff" to bring them up to speed on standards progress, as well as help convince everyone about the importance of cooperation in implementing the latest standards, Mr. Maciag noted. John Hagel III delivered the key note presentation on the theme of Service Oriented Architecture, including the potential cost savings that can add up. In addition to the general session a number of the presentations were very well received; sessions presented by industry analysts, such as Matthew Josefowicz, Cynthia Saccocia, Stephen Forte, and JF Tremblay representing Celent, TowerGroup, Gartner and HSBC Securities respectively, were particularly interesting. Finally, the conference was wrapped up with a function as Rum Jungle hosted by Microsoft. |
