The Insight Enterprise Business Analysis applications allow integrated or separate analysis and reporting of policy, application, claims and fund information over time. Operational data is transformed into qualitative, meaningful, values within a clearly defined product framework, liberating business knowledge from the technical requirements of a distributed system environment.

Business Analysis is further divided into five application groups:

Policy Analysis

Policy Analysis applications cover inforce policies from the issue to termination stage. The applications include (1) Policy Profile, (2) Policy Movements, and (3) Policy Transactions, all based on a full set of policy attributes.

Movement reports provide core functionality for insurance analysis, traditionally for a specified period these show:

 Value at the start of the period
 + changes
 + new business
 - Terminations
 = Value at the end of the period

With the Insight Enterprise Policy Movement application, these values are calculated from first principles from the temporal database, so there is never a need for the balancing items that many companies resort to. In addition to the basic set of movement measures Insight Enterprise includes a number of calculated measures such as growth rate and product changes. Users can also drill down for additional information, for example the first level drilldown on terminations will show cleansed termination reason (death, surrender, lapse etc); further drilldown will give the actual termination reason from the administration system.

In addition to analysis by policy count, Insight Enterprise features a wide range of measures such as benefit, fund value, cash value, various premium measures, age and average duration. These measures come from the same underlying event, so there is always consistency across various measures.

Application Analysis

Application Analysis applications provide comprehensive business analysis from receipt of the application up to the point of issue or cancellation. This is primarily of interest for underwriting, new business operations and sales management. The applications include (1) Application Profile, and (2) Application Movements, all based on a full set of policy attributes.

Claim Analysis

The Claim Analysis application set covers the analysis of claims that are both recurring in nature (such as DI and LTC) and one time individual claim payments. The applications include (1) Claim Profile, (2) Claim Movements, (3) Claim Payment, and (4) Policy Claim Paid, all based on a full set of policy attributes.

Fund Analysis

Fund Analysis applications allow you to profile and fund values, movements and transactions by the full set of policy attributes, with drill-through to individual records. Fund analysis provides an understanding movements and transactions in the context of the fund values.

Reinsurance Analysis

Where appropriate, reinsurance analysis adds a dimension that provides drill down to show analytics on a direct, ceded and retained basis; ceded business can be further examined by reinsurer and treaty.
