The following platform components are used by Insight Enterprise for the recommended deployment.

Server(s)

The server configuration will depend on a number of factors including:

• Existing standards and expertise
• Database size, number of users and performance requirements
• Hardware availability

Operating System; Windows Server 2003 is required:

• Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2
• Microsoft .Net 3.0 and .NET 2.0
• Microsoft IIS v6

Database; Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition SP2, including:

• Microsoft SQL Server DB (SSDB)
• Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
• Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
• Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

This is included with Insight Enterprise.

Interface:

• Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 Enterprise Edition
• Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Technologies

This is provided with the Insight Enterprise License or free from Microsoft.

Desktop

Operating System:

• Windows OS, XP SP2 or Vista SP1 is preferred

Browser / Report Reader:

• Internet Explorer 6 SP2 or 7
• PDF Reader - Adobe PDF Reader v8.1 is recommended

Report design and publishing:

• Microsoft Excel 2007 Professional Plus or Enterprise Edition (for Pivot Reports)
• Businss Intelligence Development Studio (for Reporting Services Reports)
• Insight Addin for Excel 2007

Notes

(1) SharePoint and SSAS contain features that integrate with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Visio; these are not specifically required for the Insight Enterprise BI functionality.

(2) Excel Services is used to render pivot reports, this is included with MOSS.

(3) Pivot Reports may also be opened and modified in earlier versions of Excel; however they cannot be published to MOSS.
